Terms of Service

Last updated: April 29, 2026

By using privacyscore.dev you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short, plain-language and weighted toward both sides being reasonable.

1. What this site is

privacyscore.dev is a free, browser-based educational utility. It shows you what data your browser exposes to any website you visit, computes a privacy score, and offers a JSON API that returns the same data for the requesting visitor.

2. Use of the service

You may use the website and the public API for personal, educational, journalistic, or research purposes. You may share screenshots and link to results.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. Intellectual property

The privacyscore.dev source code is open and the site's underlying detection techniques are well-known web standards (canvas, WebGL, WebRTC, the Permissions API, etc). The content on /privacy, /terms, and /about, and the visual design of the page, are © 2026.

5. No warranty

The site is provided as-is. The detection logic is best-effort and reflects the state of the web at the time. The privacy score is a heuristic, not a security audit. You should not rely on it as the sole basis for any decision about your privacy, security, or compliance.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to: loss of data, missed compliance obligations, decisions made on the basis of the score or the API, or downstream effects on third parties.

7. Changes to the service

The site may be updated, paused, or shut down at any time without notice. The API may change. We will keep an effort to maintain backward compatibility on /api/v1/* but make no formal guarantee.

8. Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where practical, surface a banner.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Croatia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith email shall be brought before the courts of the Republic of Croatia.
